I have been learning more about the Father’s heart, the fact that God never wanted to be God but a Father. His heart is for US! It’s something easy to pass over because we hear it all the time in church that God loves us, but my heart is that as you read this the spirit will begin to churn something new in you and give you a fresh revelation of the Father’s heart.
He is a Father who is enamored with his children, with us. He doesn’t condemn but continually says “shame off you.” A verse that shows this beautifully is:
Luke 23:34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
After they beat him, pressed a crown of thorns on his head, mocked and spat on him and then nailed him to a cross, his heart still broke for them and he cried out to the father for them.
That is the heart of the Father. That no matter what we do or have done, he loves us. Not for what we have done or could ever do but simply for who we are. Like Michael Jordan’s parents who loved their son, not because they knew he was going to grow up to be a famous basketball player but because he was their son. The truth is, we are God’s children. Like the father of the prodigal son who ran out to meet his son when he returned, God longs for us.
It’s simple but so profound. Something that my mind and heart is still trying to wrap itself around and understand how loved I am and that the Father’s heart beats for me….and it beats for you.
