We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip, so here is my story:
Since moving to Canada, I have thought about going on a missions trip several times but it wasn’t until I was in Banff for a seasonal job last summer that God really pressed the idea of missions on my heart. Its funny how God works; I was away from home, family, friends and all that’s familiar when he turned my world upside-down. It was totally God timing; without anyone else to lean on I was learning to depend on God more and that’s when he called me into missions and challenged me to depend on him even more.
When I started searching for missions trips I read a bunch before I came across the AIM website. When I read about the First Year Missionaries trip, it was like something inside just ‘clicked’, God spoke to me and I knew this was the one! I looked into going with the 08-09 team but it was already full so I thought ok well maybe next year, we will see what happens. During the next few months I couldn’t stop thinking about the FYM trip, inside I just knew I was meant to do this and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else next year; so I applied and by the grace of God was accepted 🙂
Being born in Africa has given me a strong heart for the continent. So I am really excited to be going back now that I know God, so I can share his love, hope and grace with everyone I meet.
